The meeting was called to order at 11:03 a.m.

5.    Hearing of Minor Variance Applications

a) DALGLISH, Geordie – APPLICATION NO. A03-16

CIVIC ADDRESS:  1-B962 Island

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE APPLICATION:

The applicant is seeking relief from Section 6.1.3 d) ii) Maximum Total Floor Area, of the Township’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. A2000-07, as amended.  The maximum total floor area allowed for a main dwelling is 300 square metres (3229 square feet).

The purpose of the proposed application is to allow a variance of 52 square metres (560 square feet) from the maximum total floor area.  The effect of the proposed variance would be the construction of a main dwelling having a maximum total floor area of 352 square metres (3789 square feet).

Originally, the owner had applied for a building permit which included drawings for a 100 square metre (1076 square feet) covered porch, on a portion of the 195 square metre (2099 square feet) main dwelling.  He stated that the architectural vernacular of the dwelling would be maintained if he would be able to construct the 57 square metre (614 square feet) covered porch around the remaining portion of the dwelling, as shown on the attached sketch.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE APPLICATION:

The owners are seeking relief from Section 5.1.2 ii) a) of the Township's Comprehensive Zoning By-law which stipulates that accessory buildings shall not exceed one storey and 5 metres in height.

The purpose of the proposed application is to allow for a gazebo having a maximum height of 6.0 metres (19.7 feet).  The effect of the proposed variance would be the construction of a 34.8 square metre (375 square feet) gazebo which would require a 1 metre (3.3 feet) variance from the allowed 5 metre height restriction.
