5.    Hearing of Minor Variance Applications

CIVIC ADDRESS: 6 A203 Island, Archipelago

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE APPLICATION:

The applicant is requesting relief from Section 5.39, of the Township's Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. A2000-07, as amended, which stipulates that a sports court is a permitted accessory use on a lot zoned for residential use, subject to a minimum front yard setback of 30 metres along a navigable waterway.

The purpose of the proposed application is to allow for a poured concrete sport court to be installed where an existing jungle gym is to be removed.  The effect of the application would be the placement of a poured concrete pad, being 151 square metres (1625 square feet) in size, for a basketball court.  The pad is proposed to have a 10 metre (33 feet) front yard setback.

Cale Henderson; Secretary Treasurer, explained the nature of the application.  Andy Blenkarn, agent working on behalf of the owner, attended in support of the application.
