Reeve Peter Ketchum

Reeve Peter KetchumPeter Ketchum is a long time seasonal resident in Nares Inlet.  He is a member of the Bayfield-Nares Islanders’ Association and served as President 1986 - 1988.  He is also a member of the Georgian Bay Association and served as Vice President and Secretary Treasurer, 1978 -1985.  During that time while Wally King was President the Township of The Archipelago was created.
Peter Ketchum became Councillor in 1997 and, as Chair of the of the Finance Committee, established reserve policies that formed the basis for stable taxation.
Peter Ketchum became Reeve in 2000 and was instrumental in developing shared municipal funding to assist in the building of West Parry Sound Health Centre.  As well, he avoided amalgamation, ensured Municipal infrastructure was brought up to Provincial standards, led the Pointe au Baril Waterfront revitalization and the building of the New Ambulance/Nursing Station.  In planning, he ensured strong resident involvement for the full review and implementation of the Official Plan and Bylaws.  He also served on the Belvedere (Home for the Aged) Board for a number of years.  He forged strong relationships with neighbouring Municipalities which helped the Archipelago become a recognized member of the West Parry Sound community.
Peter Ketchum is married to wife Susannah of 54 years and lives in Toronto.  His two children live in Ottawa, daughter Alice Lurie and David with children, Duncan, Callum, and Richard and son Kenneth Ketchum with daughter Susannah.
