Effective May 1, 2025, the Township of The Archipelago was
granted Strong Mayor powers under Ontario
Regulation 530/22 Part VI.1 of the Municipal Act, 2001.
Strong Mayor powers provide heads of council with additional
tools to help advance key shared municipal–provincial priorities, including
housing, transit, and infrastructure.
Overview of Duties and Powers
Strong Mayor powers and duties include:

The Mayor is required to exercise these powers in writing and give notice to the Clerk and/or Chief Administrative Officer. These decisions are made available to the public, subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). A public listing of Mayoral decisions and directions will be available on this page as decisions are made.
