Municipal Council Vacancy - Ward 1

Please take notice that a vacancy exists on the Township of The Archipelago Council for one (1) Council Position – Councillor, Ward 1. Council wishes to fill this vacancy through selection by nomination and appointment in accordance with The Archipelago Council Vacancy Appointment Procedure. 

The term of this position is from the date of Council appointment for the balance of the Council term until October 26, 2026.

Qualified Candidates

An applicant for municipal office must be a qualified municipal elector as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Qualified electors must be:

• 18 years of age or older;
• a Canadian citizen;
• a resident of the Municipality of West Nipissing, or an owner or tenant of land in the Municipality or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
• not prohibited from voting under any other Act or disqualified from running for or holding municipal office.

Certified applicants will be invited to address Council for up to ten (10) minutes and will then respond to questions at an open Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for May 22, 2026. Council will appoint the successful candidate at its Regular Meeting on May 23, 2026.
