Large Item Disposal

For your convenience, Site 9, Crane, Healey, Woods Bay, Devil’s Elbow and Sheep Head transfer stations accept large items during all scheduled hours of operation, free of charge.

Accepted Items

Household Furniture:  tables, chairs, couches, portable cabinets, portable book shelves, beds and dressers

Outdoor Items:  barbeques, chairs, picnic tables, umbrellas, lawnmowers and garden tractors (oil and fuel removed)

Appliances:  cooking stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers  (Note:  Items containing refrigerant are subject to a $30.00 charge to cover the cost of environmentally friendly refrigerant removal which must be paid at the time of drop-off.

Minor renovation/construction materials performed by resident: Total volume not to exceed 2 cubic metres annually.  Excess of 2 cubic metres will be charged $20.00 per cubic yard.

Miscellaneous:  Tires, toilets, wiring and light fixtures, insulation etc.   

For Bayfield, Pointe au Baril and Skerryvore residents, the Township annually provides free large item disposal days.  Items that cannot be accepted on the scheduled Large Item Day may be accepted at the Site 9 Landfill.
